     LONG ISLAND BEACH BUGGY ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY BOARD MEETING  MINUTES - JUNE 10, 2010

1. Meeting called to order: 7:45PM

2. Pledge of Allegiance, moment of silence for our troops.

3. Roll Call.

4. MINUTES: The minutes from the May meeting were read and a motion was made, seconded and passed to accept them.

5. PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Billy thanked all who participated in the beach clean up at Shagwong. It was a very successful clean up with the best turn out in years. A special thanks was given to the Democrat Point boy’s for coming out.

Billy also informed us of the resignations of two Directors, John Marsillo and Brian Quinn, both for personal reasons. If anyone who’s not a Director that wishes to become one, see Billy.

Billy was working on the LIBBA Grant this past week. He was in touch with John Mantione and Assemblyman Sweeney. He sent a request proposing a change in the disbursement of the Grant, which was $2500.00 for the new Show Booth and $2500.00 towards to produce a new video for Nassau & Suffolk counties.

Thanks to all who helped send out the raffle tickets.

Billy has noticed some bickering and other similar things going on amongst some Directors. It’s ridiculous and he will not tolerate it. This organization runs because of it’s Directors and there is no place for this nonsense here. Let’s move forward and work as a team.

6. 1st VP REPORT: Cooky told us he would like to have a Jamboree meeting in about 2 weeks. Chuck will set up the night before camping. Cooky thinks that if we don’t have to pay for the use of the Park, then we should do something to show our appreciation.

7. PROPERTIES: Cooky knows for a fact that last year the barbeques were put away spotless. The other day Frank noticed that one of them was filthy.

We don’t know who used it, but the thing is, if you get it clean, return it clean.

From now on Cooky wants to know who uses it.

8. WEBSITE: Al gets everything on the website, except complaints. Anything pertaining to the website can be directed to Al. Any complaints will be handled by Cooky or Billy.

9. 2nd VP REPORT: Frank thanked all who helped at the Shagwong clean up.

He also said he’s looking for help to do the upcoming show in September. Al said he had some kind of screen he would donate for us to use at shows.

10. TREASURER’S REPORT: Larry gave us a double shot of reports as he was not present at the last meeting. A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept both April and May’s Treasurer reports. A discussion was had about why we still had the credit card machine after we made a motion back in March to get rid of it. It will be taken care of.

11. MEMBERSHIP: Bea gave us her detailed report on the membership. She told us we now have 21 businesses on board. We also added 42 more members.

12. EXECUTIVE VP: Chuck arrived late from a retirement party for his ex boss, who is now the Suffolk County Parks Commissioner. Chuck spoke with him and informed him of several beaches we have access to that he was unaware of. Chuck also asked us if we knew of any issues at any County Parks that can be brought up to the Commissioner.

Betsy said Gilgo will still remain closed because of the erosion.

13. NEWSLETTER: Billy said the newsletter will have to go on the back burner for now.

14. WEBSITE: Al informed us that we Directors will now have email addresses at LIBBA.com. He also passed around a questionaire to the Directors to let the membership get a glimpse of what we do.

Al then gave us a report on technical stuff concerning the Website, including collecting dues with Pay Pal. We all agreed with Billy that Al is doing a GREAT job!

15. BEACH ACCESS: Hemi passed by Gilgo on the way to this meeting and told us that the water was still up to the dunes.

Lou Farr told us there was a County meeting scheduled for the 29th.

16. PROPERTIES: Cooky has some one in mind to do properties.

17. SCHOLARSHIP: Billy wants to get in touch with Van Staal to see if they’ll donate a reel for us to raffle off.

Cooky suggested we move the scholarship dinner from the Aquarium to a closer location.

18. JAMBOREE: A meeting on the jamboree is scheduled for June 30th.

19. FISHING CONTEST: Rick gave a quick report on the contests.

20. OLD BUSINESS: We have to get rid of the credit card machine.

21. NEW BUSINESS: Larry told us we got an extension on our tax returns.

Motion made, seconded and passed to adjourn. 9:25pm
