1. Meeting called
to order: 7:40pm
2. Pledge of
Allegiance, moment of silence for our troops.
3. Roll Call.
4. MINUTES: The
minutes from the March meeting were read. A correction was made under County
Parks identifying Supervisor Nickleson as Commissioner. A motion was then made
to accept the minutes as corrected.
5. TREASURERS
REPORT: Larry gave his detailed report on LIBBA finances. A motion was
made, seconded and passed to accept Larry’s report.
6. PRESIDENTS
REPORT: Billy passed out a paper outlining how each member of the Executive
Board will be responsible for certain committees. He also told us that the
LIBBA Webpage is not being updated as it should be. He will find out what the
intentions of those involved are and rectify this problem fast as this right
now, is our main means of communication with the membership.
There is some
confusion about our upcoming grass planting. It seems that Betsy asked if we
could do a beach raking and fence stringing project instead. We will be meeting
at either Captree or Field 2.
7. EXECUTIVE
VP REPORT: Chuck asked Lou Farr if he would still do County Parks, he
agreed. Chuck then asked Willy young if he would still do State Parks, he too
agreed. He still needs someone to do West End.
8. 1st
VP REPORT: Cooky informed us what committees he will be overseeing. He also
said that he might be changing some things on the scholarship dinner. He also
said he would be needing help on this because it’s a new endeavor for him.
9. 2nd
VP REPORT: Frank told us that he will still be overseeing the Courtesy
Patrol, Show Committee. He said he’s thinking about getting a new show booth
and he’ll be looking for help on that.
10. MEMBERSHIP:
Bea gave us her report on the membership. She said she posted on the LIBBA
Facebook site a dues notice and it got results.
John Marsillo
said he would visit some shops to leave LIBBA pamphlets and solicit.
11. WEBSITE: Billy
said he will have an answer very soon about the website.
John Marsillo
told us he knows a videographer who could put a beach driving class video on
our website. This is a good idea.
12. STATE
PARKS: Willy gave us all the bad news concerning beach closings due to the
severe erosion caused by all the storms. We need more fishing line boxes,
they’re popular. The Montauk parking lot is now $8.00. Willy is looking to have
some meetings on Green Island.
Chuck told us he
heard that the State, to increase revenues, is thinking about opening up the
Beach Vehicle Permit to all user groups. He already drafted a letter to Steve
Englebright against this. This guy is for MPA’s.
13. COUNTY
PARKS: Lou gave us a report on Suffolk County Parks. He told us that Parks
was distributing its sand stock piles to areas where it is needed.
Lou said
Nickleson was out. He’s not certain who will be replacing her.
A discussion was
held on the pro’s and con’s of snow fencing and Christmas trees as a means to
combat erosion.
14. WEST END: Larry
told us that Breezy Point was closed also.
15. PRESS
RELEASES: Jim’s on it. Bea asked how we could get in touch with more Boy
& Girl Scout troops. Different ways were discussed.
16. BY LAWS: Artie
Boyd passed out copies of the updated By
Laws and Code of Ethics he and his committee came up with. A motion was made to
accept the new code of ethics ( 16 items ), seconded and passed to accept.
Artie also wants to amend the way we
change amendments. This would be to give a little lee way on how we vote on
amendments. A motion to amend the amendments was made, seconded and passed.
17. SCHOLARSHIP:
Cooky will be handling this. He also told us that UMS Scholarship was
awarded to James Carlucci.
18. UMS: Cooky
told us that the Carolina’s are being hit with more lawsuits from the
environmentalists. They just keep on coming. It’s starting to work on up the
coast. Now Asseteague is having problems. Next UMS meeting will probably be in
NJ. These lawsuits are basically against ORV’s being on beaches. We are a
target. A lengthy disscussion was held on this.
19. JAMBORREE:
Cooky would like to have the Jamborree at Hecksher again. He’s trying for
August 7th. Other options were discussed.
20. OLD
BUSINESS: Chuck needs to know how many for Casting for Recovery Dinner.
We have decided to
get rid of the LIBBA truck. The monies we save could pay for storage. Gabe
knows of a place in Bayshore. A motion was made, seconded and passed to sell
the truck ( asking $1500.00 ) and use the monies saved to pay for storage.
21. NEW
BUSINESS: Willy told us about the Marine Resources Advisory Council, it
advises the Dec on regs. It cannot make regulations. What they are trying to do
is get draggers to target striped bass. He needs letters against this. Send to
Dec Regional Director Gillmore.
Motion was made,
seconded and passed to adjourn. 9:35pm
